Washing

Washing

 (For Dawn—after our wedding & reception)

 So now we kneel in supplication verse:

Today from two you form one fallen flesh.

We die to glorify your plan on earth;

And gain exalted joy in tiny death…

Please sanctify this consummation night,

As well as every day that does remain.

Persistently we seek eternal light

And count the death of self our greatest gain.

Before we consummate our love we trace

The Via Dolorosa, roll away the stone

And celebrate your gift of saving grace.

We long to look upon your sacred throne!

Henceforth, we imitate your life and wash

And die to serve each other as our cross.
